Dr. Nuria Cortés-Francisco received her PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Barcelona. She developed her career at the Spanish Council for Scientific Research, where she mainly worked on the use and study of high resolution mass spectrometry for the analysis of organic pollutants in environmental and food samples. For more than two years, she is the Emerging Contaminants and Mass Spectrometry Specialist at the Laboratori Agència de Salut Pública de Barcelona (LASPB). LASPB which is a Public Health Laboratory contributes to the identification and control of public health problems in the community. This is done by supporting analytical monitoring programs for food safety and environmental surveillance. Part of this analysis involves the screening of over 35,000 samples a year.
