Dr. Prakasha Kempaiah, research associate professor at the Center for Global Health at University of New Mexico, describes the development of a therapeutic model to assess host genetic factors associated with severe disease outcomes for malaria. Graduate student, Angela Achieng, also provides insight into the issues surrounding drug-resistant antimalarials and the methods used to develop more efficacious drugs to control and eliminate malaria.
