Vitamin D intoxication is characterized by the excess of this vitamin that leads to hypercalcemia, which can cause nonspecific symptoms, such as anorexia, weight loss and polyuria, or more serious complications such as cardiac arrhythmias, vascular and tissue calcification, and can lead to kidney failure. In this video, Dra. Cleide de Oliveira Weingrill Sabino, endocrinologist at DASA, discusses the analytical challenges presented by doctors prescribing high Vitamin D doses to patients as a treatment for autoimmune diseases and the importance of carefully controlling doses to prevent hypercalcemia.
